Aloha!

My name is Fernando D. Ayala and I am a 2nd generation Educator.  As a credentialed teacher, I provide a structured, nurturing learning environment that I customize to each of my clients.

What sets me apart as a private tutor?
  • Undergraduate degree with emphasis in engineering, math, science and technology
  • 15+ years of classroom experience (K-12), using differentiated instruction to teach all subjects
  • Coached and played competitive sports like rugby, soccer and basketball, as well as individual sports like surfing, tennis and orienteering
  • Experienced, well-traveled outdoorsman with knowledge and respect for nature
  • Recreational artist with a love for visual arts, design, music, poetry, and wood work
  • I engage students personally, to cultivate sustainable learning

For more than 15 years I have enjoyed being an educator in distinguished school districts throughout Southern California. Most of my classroom experience comes from teaching students in grades 2 through 8. I have also served as the interim Assistant Principal at an elementary school in Manhattan Beach, as well as the lead Science and Technology Facilitator for an elementary school in Santa Monica.

As an alumni of Loyola High School and then Loyola Marymount University, my diverse academic background promotes multiple learning styles that include visual arts, scientific analysis, physical recreation and literacy.

Along with teaching and working as a Realtor®, I provide private, in-home tutoring for students in the Bay Area, including Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, San Leandro Hayward and surrounding communities.

Please see my tutoring page or download the PDF flyer for details about my tutoring services. Or contact me to schedule a complimentary, in-home consultation.
